As a self proclaimed Wicked super fan I have been putting off reading this book for decades. I really love the way Maguire writes, I’ll be honest that it took me a second to settle into the style but it’s really captivating. I love the sectioning, and changing of viewpoints of the book. It’s a really deep introspective of how the world can really craft someone into something they’re not. “Are people born wicked or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?” I’m interested to read Son of a Witch. As a fan of the musical it was great to ready the source material which really has so many difference and yet a warm familiarity.

Ugh, this book. I have no clue why so many people loved this book. It was so long, but I still felt like I didn’t get to know any of the characters. Also, it was just so vulgar for no reason, like the vulgarity didn’t anything to the plot, I think the author is just kind of perverted. The only interesting part was right at the end when Dorothy and her crew show up. Otherwise, it was a slog of random forgettable characters and place names. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone.
