I haven't seen the musical, and honestly I cannot imagine this book being turned into a Broadway show. The symbolism is incredibly rich and layered. I'll need to reread

Hmmmmm I’m not so sure what I just read! Kind of all over the place and for some reason when updating my Goodreads it kept saying I was 100% complete when I wasn’t!

As usual, this children’s story turns out to be very dark and different from the actual story and how it ends up to be portrayed. A very different read. I don’t think I’d recommend for anyone to read it just for fun, but I enjoyed it enough to make it through and can’t wait to see the movie!

I read this book in high school and enjoyed it, then with the new movie coming out decided a reread was in order. But for various reasons stopped about half way through, now it's been six months and everytime I think about picking it back up, it feels like a chore so I've accepted that it's probably not getting finished this time around.

Despite that I want to say that Maguire writes an interesting world and the more philosophical bits about good vs bad, animals vs Animals, etc are good.
adventurous medium-paced

VERY different to the show/movie, it’s almost unbelievable that the book was the inspiration. It really reminded me of White Teeth by Zadie Smith??????
