I had no connection with the characters and did not care what happed to them.
Leading up to the release and even now a few months later I hear so many people say this is like Greek mythology meets the Hunger Games and it's mainly what made me want to read it (it did not disappoint).
The only insight into Greek mythology I’d really had before reading Lore was from Percy Jackson and although that series does show that the gods were not the nicest, this book really highlighted just how selfish and brutal they really are.
I really liked how cautious and untrusting Lore was around Athena in the beginning, it was completely understandable after what the gods did to her family and would do to her if they found her. I thought Lore’s character development was good, I liked how, even though the whole book takes place in the space of a week, it didn’t feel too rushed with her learning to trust people that weren’t her best friend, Miles.
I think my favourite thing about the book was the game aspect, I love when a book has a game or tournament and I think this one was absolutely brilliant. It was brutal (hence why it's likened to Hunger Games), there's lots of death and not knowing who to trust and I was absolutely here for it. I loved how the characters strategized and had to plan how to make it through the week of the Agon alive, and how they kept having to change their plan to fit with what else was going on around them. All the characters were cunning (some more than others) and they all seemed to show initiative, including, and I think especially, Miles who was the most resilient considering this was a world thrust on to him out of nowhere and he had to learn to adapt quickly to keep himself and his friends alive.

Ich bin ehrlich, ich habe mir tatsächlich ein wenig mehr erwartet. Ich liebe griechische Mythologie und hatte die Hoffnung, dass auf diese auch etwas mehr zu sprechen kommt. Leider wurde ich ein bisschen enttäuscht.
Dennoch, die Grundidee von diesem Buch kann sich wirklich sehen lassen und ich finde sie größtenteils auch gut umgesetzt. Teilweise hat es mich sehr stark an "Tribute von Panem" erinnert. Es war manchmal ziemlich brutal und sehr auf körperliche Verletzung, Morde, usw. ausgelegt.
Trotzdem konnte sich auch der plot echt sehen lassen, ich hatte ihn nicht erwartet. Auch die Liebesgeschichte ist sehr schön geschrieben,

"Bei meiner Geburt wurden mir drei Fähigkeiten verliehen - zu atmen, zu träumen und dich zu lieben."
Einfach WOW. Wenn ein Junge sowas zu mir sagen würde, damn, ich würde schmelzen.
Insgesamt war es kein schlechtes Buch, aber es hat mich irgendwie einfach nicht so wirklich gecatcht, ich hatte nicht diesen Drang so schnell wie möglich weiterlesen zu wollen, wie es mir bei anderen Büchern geht.
Trotzdem absolut lesenswert!

I’m a huge fan of Greek mythology as I grew up reading the Percy Jackson series. This book is more of a modern take on that mythology, think the hunger games but with Greek gods and their powers at stake. It was bloody and gruesome with the reality of war. I liked that it addressed the past of the gods and brought attention to certain topics about the role of women in such a old society. It entertained me but I was expecting more of the old myths to play a part in the story. Overall it was an enjoyable read if you like mythology, action and badass characters.

QUE LIBRO POR DIOS!
Al principio estaba tan perdida con tantas casas y personajes pero con el tiempo me fui acostumbrando y entendiendo todo el agon. Es un libro plagado de acción, de plot twist, he llorado de orgullo como 5 veces (Lore fue tremenda protagonista). Este libro ha sido todo lo que mi cerebro nerd de mitología e historia griega necesitaba.
Mejor lectura del año por lejos. Haganse el favor de leerlo y si no les gusta no me hablen (?

La gran pregunta del millon ¿Que hago ahora con mi vida?
Esta es una historia donde la mitología griega se mezcla con el presente en una especie de Juegos del Hambre.
La verdad es que el libro en sí me ha gustado. La autora escribe muy bien y no deja que haya apenas un momento en el que no estén pasando cosas importantes o se estén descubriendo nuevas líneas de las que seguir.
Si bien puedo decir que creo que hay un límite en el que la posible muerte de uno de los personajes protagonistas puede tener impacto.
Sinceramente, me habría gustado saber más del agón y de sus inicios, porque al final parece que todo fue un capricho de Zeus y que hay que "aprender la lección" para poder salir de allí. Si le hubieran dado algo más de trasfondo quizá lo hubiera disfrutado más y se comprenderían mejor algunas acciones de los dioses, cuya personalidad se ha visto afectada por los muchos años que llevan entre los mortales, siendo perseguidos cada siete años.
Otro punto negativo, es la protagonista, con la que cuesta bastante empatizar y a la que algunas cosas le salen bien solo por conveniencia de la trama (porque en los flashbacks es una niña de 10 años o menos colándose en localizaciones secretas de alta seguridad y haciendo cosas que no diré por ahorrar spoilers).
En cambio Miles, aún siendo el secundario, es el que más fácil lo pone para el lector, al ser alguien que nunca ha visto nada de eso y está descubriendo el mundo de la mitología.
También creo que se podría haber ahorrado la misoginia que rodea al agón, tanto explícita como implícita. Ya que las mujeres aún siendo cazadoras no "deben" acceder a la inmortalidad ni liderar a los suyos, siempre ha de ser un hombre. Y, curiosamente, las únicas dos diosas vivas no tienen una familia ni ejército que las apoye.
Al final de la trama se da la impresión de que esa sociedad está a punto de cambiar, pero han tenido cientos de años para hacerlo y ahora que todo se ha acabado, igual es tarde.
En definitiva, me ha gustado leerlo y compartirlo con las amigas con las que he hecho lectura conjunta. Tiene muchos puntos a favor, pero también cosas negativas que le quitan esa última estrella.
