This was a bit of a let down for me. Although I wasn't a huge fan of [b:The Darkest Legacy|37688046|The Darkest Legacy (The Darkest Minds, #4)|Alexandra Bracken|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1522698149l/37688046._SY75_.jpg|59175846], I did very much enjoy [b:The Darkest Minds|10576365|The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1)|Alexandra Bracken|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1343178841l/10576365._SY75_.jpg|15483434] and the rest of the original trilogy. I know Alexandra Bracken can write an engaging story with characters that really pull me in. Unfortunately Lore had neither.

The plotting felt muddled and contrived in places. I was confused in parts about what was happening, and had a hard time feeling invested in the characters. The exception to this was Miles, who was both charming and funny, but relegated to being a side character.

I finished Lore, but ultimately it felt extremely unsatisfying. To be honest, if I'm asked about it in a few weeks I probably won't remember much.

That said, my buddy reader Lindsay quite liked it, and his taste is excellent, so this might all just be me and my general pandemic fatigue.

I really enjoyed Lore, but didn’t go crazy for it liked I hoped or expected to. While I absolutely love anything steeped in mythology, I did find some of the initial set up and Agon context a bit difficult to follow at first. However, if you just stick with it, it definitely clears up.

Lore herself is a great lead. She is powerful but flawed, which makes her relatable and likable. I found Athena’s story arc to be interesting too.

Unfortunately, I felt like there was so much build up to a bit of a rushed ending, which was a mild let down. Again, I did really enjoy the book, it just wasn’t my favorite, but ultimately I would still recommend it to anyone who is considering picking it up. ✌

I really enjoyed this !! It was really nice to read a book that’s different from the genres and plots I’ve been reading a lot recently, and it definitely brought me back into my love for Greek mythology. I also really liked how it was a different take on the characters and a different way to interpret their powers and personalities. I can’t lie some of the characters and their choices did confuse me/were just odd but I also think that was just the nature of the book. I also didn’t love the ending but I’m just not one for semi-inconclusive endings so that’s kind of just preference. But! Good book!

Day-yum!!! That was one rollicking, adventurous, helluva ride!!! I mean, whew! I’m a little spent!

I enjoyed this book a lot and was mad I didn’t know about it sooner.

Loved the premise and the characters kept me reading. This is not a retelling, so to speak, but an Urban fantasy anchored by the stories of the Gods and Goddesses that flavor the author's world. I loved the nods to the myths, and the fresh look at how these immortals would interact with us mere humans. A wonderful read!
