DNF. This book will be great for fans of mythological fiction but not so much as an introductory piece to the genre.

As much as I wanted to like this book I just…. didn’t. Maybe thats wrong to say, it was a fine read, very creative story and keeping the Greek Gods alive in modern time, and a unique idea. I just never felt attached to the characters? There were some scenes that I just wished hurt more when I was reading, but because I never felt emotionally attached to the characters I just didn’t care as much when these traumatic events happened to them.

It’s not really fair to say that the story wasn’t good, because it was; it just never hit the mark with me and never pulled me in.

I'm not going to lie. I could not get into this book
I kept feeling lost. Going back and re-reading parts to make them make sense. Feeling lost and confused.

So this is Percy Jackson/Greek mythology meets Hunger Games and I absolutely loved it. This book was so good. The plot twists were fantastic and the pacing was excellent. I’ve been reading a lot of Greek mythology lately and I was starting to get tired of it, but this book saved it for me. Even though this is a stand-alone, you still get to know the characters well, especially lore, and you grow to care about them in such a short amount of time.

Castor & Lore. That’s it. I love them. Best friends to lovers I’ve seen.

a lot of 'hmm's and 'ohh's and 'oh!'s and 'huh!'s. the idea of it was great. i felt the dialogue in general a little unnatural, i looked at it and thought, well, nobody would say it like this in real life. but then i thought the entire theme of the book would not exist in real life so i told myself baaghh and just sucked it up.

in the end it wasn't so bad, just maybe the last few pages where they broke the thousand-century (probably more) tradition in some way that i still haven't been able to comprehend, weeks after finishing the book. so zeus decided to just be nice?? he left them alone just like that?
