I’m not going to lie, this book really disappointed me. For some reason I felt very disconnected from the story and I don’t like the ending at all. It felt very formulaic and basic, I was hoping for more.

4 Stars
A great “I love mythology, but I’m too old for Percy Jackson” read. I appreciate how much detail went into accuracy of setting and history. I enjoyed the characters and, despite reading others complaints to this fact, I thought Lore’s back-and-forth battle of her desire in life felt so true to me. I could completely identify as someone raised to have different ideals than I consider to be what I would choose for myself now. There’s not enough character depth to give it 5 stars, but it has a solid 4 for storyline and pace.

It kinda sucked not about to lie

Loved this book! Very Percy Jackson  and hunger games coded! Wanted more castor and the ending felt kind of open and want a sequel.

I have been picked up and transplanted back to six years in the past: right in my Percy Jackson era. I loved the lore (hahahaha aren’t I clever) in this book. Sometimes books like this can be hard for me to wrap my head around but I caught on to this story pretty fast. I wish this was me rooting my own horn but I have to give credit to Alexandra Bracken for a well-thought out and well-executed fantasy storyline.

My one complaint with this book is that the characters were a little flat and it was (perhaps) a little predictable at times. But these didn’t detract from the magic of the setting or the story and I would still recommend this book to anyone who has ever taken an interest in Greek mythology.
