✿ re-read ✿

i honestly didn't think I could love this book so much. i cried again and rooted for them again.

if you are considering to pick this story up, this is not a HEA and it will end in a cliffhanger so might as well get book 2 but let me tell you, you would want to read it cause it was hard to stop. you will fall in love with Salem & Thayer. i cannot say enough other than, get me a diet pepsi.

this book put me in a major slump... but I'm nothing if not a masochist, so onto book 2...

4.5

I’ve taken a couple of days to process and think about what I want to say about this book. This book wrecked me in every possible way. In no way did I see the end coming and that was so brutal, but the author did a great job in writing those scenes. I knew something was going to happen, I just had no idea it would have been *that* particular event.

There is so much trauma that our main character endures prior to the book and we see how she deals with all of that, I admire her because of that. Even though at the start of the book she is 18, she seems much older due to her lived through a terribly ordeal herself. I really admired her from the beginning, and I loved the writing style. That said, I normally hate age gap romances when the girl is a teenager because it just seems cringy to me. However, I didn’t feel that at all with Salem and Thayer, and I loved them as a couple.

I highly recommend this book, and make sure you have the second one ready…. Major cliffhanger at the end! I couldn’t wait to start it.

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Confidence of Wildflowers would have been a 5 star read for me based on the writing and the romance between Salem and Thayer if it wasn't for how their relationship started and the horrible thing that happened toward the end. There was a lot of stuff that would have readers running who avoid certain content warnings. Honestly, if I hadn't read The Persistence of Thornes with Caleb's romance and been warned ahead about some of it, my rating might have been a 3. I would normally probably avoid a book like this, but I am glad I read it. I'm excited to find out what comes next in the sequel to this duet.
