I am so glad there is a Christian mystery series. That being said, this was a little too "cozy" for my personal taste.
3.5 stars
The start of a new series set in Eugene, Oregon. This is a "nice" mystery with very little violence and an appealing main character.

3/7/15 - Ug. This sounded like a cute little cozy. I only got about 10% into it and they mentioned god at least 7 times. That's all I counted once I started counting. It was excessive. And annoying. I didn't give the characters much time to grab me, but they certainly didn't grab me from the start. Meh. DNF.
I found this book fun and exciting. It had characters I found interesting. I cannot wait to join Cate in her next PI case. A fun mystery with a little bit of romance.
really enjoyed it
I really enjoyed this story. It wasn't too cheesy or hard to believe. I would recommend and can't wait to start the next book in the series

Cate Kinkaid is waiting for the right job to land in her lap. Until then she takes on her uncle’s offer to be a private investigator for his company.
Her assignment is simple: confirm that a certain woman lives at a certain address. It’s a done deal, right?
Instead of the woman in question, she finds a dead body at the address, a bunch of nosy book readers and a trail that leads in a different direction.
Cate knows that she should just report what she has found and stay at away, but her curiosity seems to get the better of her and takes her down a path of danger that she’s not prepared for.

Started slow but enjoyed the ending
I enjoyed the premise and the characters but was a bit bored until about 80% through when the pace picked up dramatically...I couldn't wait to see what happened next! Recommend this to mystery fans.

Very good cozy - humor scenes, unobnoxious family bonding, a funny main character with flaws, a realistic relationship material, and twists and turns with the villain and motivations. A delight - will continue the series. A lot of Christian feel for the book with mentions of God, prayer, and group prayer. Full review to come
