Northern Waste Book Two
Tatiana has escaped from her life in captivity and experimentation only to find herself underground once again when she meets a mysterious stranger. Tristan will not tell her any more about himself that she reveals to him. However, as the two work together to find the tormentors of their past, they become closer than either could have imagined. Will their secrets allow them to be together, or will they tear the couple apart?
If you've been waiting to see more from Wizard and Yuriko's missing sister, you will not be disappointed!

Lillian Yves and Vincent Lee Grayson are back! The two work so well together. The fun little tricks that Vincent uses for voice effects are great.

„Dark Future - Herz aus Feuer“ ist der zweite Band der „Northern Waste“ Reihe von Autorin Eve Kenin. Mir persönlich hat der zweite Teil sogar noch etwas besser gefallen. Das erlebe ich bei Reihen ehrlich gesagt gar nicht so oft, manchmal kann den ersten Band einfach nichts mehr toppen. Theoretisch könnte man die beiden Bücher dieser Dilogie auch als Einzelband lesen, empfehlen würde ich das aber nicht.
Band 2 ist etwas actiongeladener, die Liebesgeschichte steht nicht ganz so stark im Fokus, wie das beim ersten Teil der Fall war, ist aber dennoch präsent. Dieses Mal ist das für mich die perfekte Mischung! Man erfährt nach und nach mehr über diese dystopische Welt und kann sich dadurch noch besser in das düstere Szenario hineinversetzen. Tatiana und Tristan sind sehr interessante und sympathische Protagonisten.
Das Ende finde ich sehr gelungen. Im Original gibt es zwischen den beiden Büchern noch eine Novelle namens „Frozen“. Ich hatte schon etwas Angst, dass man deswegen beim Lesen des 2. Teiles das Gefühl bekommen könnte, das irgendetwas fehlt. Das ist zum Glück nicht der Fall. Lesen werde ich die Novelle dennoch, da mir die Reihe richtig gut gefallen hat.

Wow, loved reading this book! Loved meeting these new characters, dealing with this new threat, and also taking down the bad guy! I really hope we get a 3rd book for the 3rd sibling!

HIDDEN was a pleasant followup to DRIVEN by Eve Kenin aka Eve Silver. Set in a futuristic society where frozen barren tundra is home, this is the story of Wizard's sister, Tatiana, and Tristan. Though it can be read alone it would help to read DRIVEN first so you could understand why The Northern Waste exists and why things happen.
Like Wizard, Tatiana is 'special'. Someone you don't want as your enemy. Like her brother, she has some gifts that make her unique. And someone to be feared if you get on the wrong side of her.
Tristan appears to be a good guy but he has some abilities, too, that make him an extremely dangerous fellow. This sci-fi adventure is lighter on the romance and stronger on the action. It was good but not quite as satisfactory as DRIVEN. Still I enjoyed reading about these characters and am only a little sad that Ms. Kenin didn't continue this series. I would have enjoyed reading more about the sub-zero wasteland.
