de nuevo, empatizo con Jeanette de una manera gigantesca, y es lo que salva el libro porque es lo que me interesa saber, su historia, pero su estilo de narración no va conmigo. además de una caracterización súper pobre de los personajes que ha hecho que no conecte con ninguno, me parecía que todos estaban de paso y no los consideraba parte de la historia, cuando en realidad sí eran importantes. bueno, podrían haberlo sido y me hubiera sumergido más en la historia.
me encanta la fantasía pero las interrupciones random de cuentos fantásticos cortaban mucho el rollo, aunque se entiende el por qué están ahí, y está chula la metáfora y blablabla, pero se hacían interminables.

I liked the beginning of the book when she was a little kid a lot more than when she was older and there were knights. That part was sort of confusing (I understood the wizards and other stuff)

This has become one of my new favorites. I’m a big Jeanette Winterson fan now. I’m gonna read all her shit. This was such a moving read about religious trauma and sexuality. I think anyone who grew up gay in the church will be able to relate to this in some way, not to the extreme that it presents in the story hopefully??? But yeah. Really powerful and I finished it in 2 days and I’m a slow reader. SLOW!!! I finished this whole thing in 2 days though :)

I didn't hate this but definitley didn't love it. I wanted more about the main characters queer experience and less of the religion stuff. I was also confused by the weird extra fairytale stories that were added in, I don't think they were really necessary.
Trying something different here didn't really pay off for me. However, I do appreciate that this story is based in truth and there were definitley some good moments.
