I really really liked this book. Jeanette Winterson has a fantastic voice and way with words.
I loved the main storyline with Jeanette, but the fairy tales confused me. I could've done without them and would've preferred to read more about Jeanette and her experiences instead.

I enjoyed the 'real' parts of the book, where Jeanette told her story, and especially enjoyed the humour with which it was told. I didn't enjoy the interspersed stories as much, and didn't quite get the significance of some of them. I would have preferred learning more about Jeanette's thoughts and feelings instead.

If I had read this as a baby lesbian, it would’ve changed my life. It might still. 5 stars.

I chuckled all the way through this book even though it’s entirely heartbreaking. Winterson is such a resilient person and finds the humor in darkness. I want to know more. How can I become her friend?

I disliked the narration style of this book and found it very hard to follow. I wanted to enjoy it; really, I did, but this one was disappointing.

Maybe I have read too many Jeanette Winterson books to find this one endearing, or maybe it was just boring and totally fell apart at the end.

I didn’t totally understand this book, and as with many books that I feel that way about, I wish I had read it in an English class! Interesting to read a Pentecostal lesbian narrative though.
