i googled if that was the ending and it really was
Such a gorgeous story, so wonderfully written and rich in both plot and character development. Perhaps because of the interwoven fable narratives throughout and the fast progression of time, there was an abstraction to "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit" that I actually quite liked, and I felt as though it gave it quite a bit of depth. I also thought it was interesting that there was a biographical component to this book, even if not strictly enforced, and it definitely has me interested in Winterson's other work. Overall, I had a great time with this, and definitely plan to reread it eventually.

There are bonus short stories inside. They start as randomly as they end and I didn’t understand the stories but I liked them. And in the end they are the ones i remember now. It's been a week and i nearly forgot what the book is about. That speaks volumes to me.
Sometimes I had no idea what she was talking about. She was saying things like “there’s an order and a balance to be found in stories. History is St George.” And that’s it; there was no explaining who st George was and why he was history.
The books feels like a memoir and I think it mostly is, for the first 3/4 of the book. She added some crazy dreams and visions and talking oranges to make it seem fiction. But she didn’t fool me.
She doesn’t describe sex at all or her thoughts about it or how they found her out. She jumps directly to what happened after. It felt like she’s just touching the surface not wanting to let us in.
