I read this in 2 days, suprised completely by how funny and quirky the writing style was when dealing with obviously fairly heavy topics of religion, lesbianism, ostracisation etc.
Favourite bit:

I did really enjoy both the story and the writing style, and I'll definitely read more jeanette winterson, but this book didn't have much of an impact on me and I've barely thought of it since I finished it. it just felt like it was missing something , and the stories told throughout it, though they obviously reflect on Jeanette's own story, felt like a chore to read compared to the core narrative. disappointed as I thought I would like it much more but alas!

I couldn't get invested in the story and felt detached from it, remaining largely indifferent. The shifts to the medieval timeline only served to confuse the plot rather than add any real depth.i like it enough though.
