I really struggled to finish this book. The plot and the writing are fine. It is just me and stories about religion and it’s impact.

While I was unable to read "Written on the Body" for very long, a friend recommended this book, and I did find it to be much more engaging.

Who knew a book about self discovery in a conservative church could have so many moments I'd laugh out loud! I breezed through it, it was a joy to read

2.5 stars

5 stars for the first half of the book which was poetic and full of interesting characters and vignettes.

1 star for the second half of the book which was full of rambling stream-of-consciousness and unrelated fairy tales. So weird.

I thought this book was very good. I think the ending was not ideal as I wanted her to return to Melanie but I understand this is because it’s based off true events. Actually a really great book!!
