**EDIT: Okay... I rated this book as 4/5 stars initially. Upon thinking about it some more... I realised that I enjoyed this book a bit less and brought it down to 3/5 stars.

This was a very good continuation of Crown of Midnight and I enjoyed every moment of it. I also enjoyed the various points of view that Sarah wrote on in regards to certain chapters.

New characters were introduced as well which made the story more interesting and I appreciated the role they had in the story.

The overall ending was something I knew had to have happened. One side of the overall conflict was winning more than the others, which although feels good as a reader, it had me concerned with how the rest of the series will go.

BIG SPOILERS BELOW - STOP READING THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE BOOK.
For example when Celaena/Aelin freed Rowan from Queen Maeve. Another example is Chaol and Aedion furthering their plan to thwart their King and to welcome the Queen of Terrasen with open arms. I felt that something had to give... there was too much winning for the "good guys".

Then when I read the part when the King of Adarlan invited all the people involved in the plot to his chambers and not only interrogated the rebels amongst them, but even ordered one executed, that turned the tide of the story in a good way. Then after the entire conflict, he placed a COLLAR on Dorian to fully control him.

This was a very good way to remind us of the threat that the King of Adarlan posed. Before, they were beginning to dismantle his source of power, which in my opinion showed the threat of the King to lessen and lessen. Almost seeing him as another obstacle to overcome... so this cliffhanger was again, a good way to show us how dangerous he can be.

I'm also intrigued to see what Queen Maeve will do in future books. I mean, don't get me wrong, I really like Celaena/Aelin. She's a great character, but I do think she's won a bit too much, and burnt her bridge with Queen Maeve to boot. So I'm intrigued to see whether or not there will be two threats in time, not just one. The King of Adarlan and the Queen of Wendlyn.

Time will tell. I'm going to stop reading Sarah J. Maas' books now, and start reading the Mistborn trilogy. This will, in turn, allow me to get the remaining books of this series in my collection.

Overall, a very good book. Intrigued to see what future challenges await our beloved Celaena. I am also excited to see what the future holds for other characters like Aedion, Chaol, Dorian, Manon and Rowan.

I love this book. I love the character development and the new characters that are shown, too. Rowan and Aelin's relationship is the best.

Listened to the version read by Elizabeth Evans. Enjoyed the narrator. Slow start to the plot, just more training. Honestly enjoyed all the subplot the most. Good finish, excited to read the next one.
