This book is so sweet and clever. I really love the first one and the second one is great as well. These are perfect books for middle and high school students that feel in any way different. I highly recommend for students and adults alike because there’s also a lot of adult references and jokes.

I've really enjoyed this series! I am impressed at how Craft has been able to explain different forms of racism and capture what being a POC in the U.S. feels like. The story has multiple layers while still being understandable by young readers. That's the reality of being a tween/teen, juggling all of these aspects of life while trying to figure out who you are. It's even harder when you're looked at differently.
I also appreciate the funny moments, word puns, and pop culture references. I think it makes it a good read for middle grade and up.
