Surprisingly funny, with great commentary on people and their behavior - feels modern in some ways. Some misunderstandings present, and some scenes disappointingly skipped over, but the ending was satisfying.

Lucy viaja con su prima a Florencia, donde se replantea los roles que le han impuesto y termina renunciando a la propuesta de matrimonio que le hacen, justamente porque no quiere ceñirse al rol de mujer que se espera de ella.
Foster muestra el modelo de los ricos ingleses y estadounidenses que viajaban, e incluso vivían, en la Italia de finales del XIX y principios del XX, un ambiente seductor, pero que esconde cierta depredasión. Con descripciones bellamente armadas lleva a esa Italia de hace más de un siglo.

I had no expectations about this book. I went in blind and was pleasantly surprised. I think I thought it was a horror/Gothic fiction like The Woman in White, for some reason. It's a light-hearted romance, and full of interesting observations about manners in Edwardian England. Interesting characters, really.

A sweet story

Some books make one feel emotions. This was one such book for me.
The weird and incomprehensible workings of the emotions in us and the blunder we end up in because of it and the troubles of the effects of such, made me connect with the story well.
