This was a reread for me. My goodness. To think this book came out when I was actually 12 years old and now like almost 20 years later I'm reading it again. I actually came back to this because the Percy, Grover and Annabeth that were in the The Wrath of the Triple Goddess were similar but not this Percy, Grover and Annabeth. And honestly I liked this reiteration of them. Grover carried his own weight, contributed to the quest and wasn't just the comedic relief. Percy was smart in his own way, brave and compassionate to those around him. Annabeth was smart, wise, and likeable, but no way was she this perfect never making any mistakes teenager that every single person likes like in PJO #6 and #7. My opinion Rick Riordan cant get better then what he had with this original trilogy and should have to tried to add more books that essentially changed the characters for worse.

Decided to re-read for the first time since high school to relate to all the kids who are still obsessed with this series, and it's just as delightful as I remember. I'm mostly excited to get to my favorite books. Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly since it's been ten year I guess) there's a ton I completely forgot about.
