Oh my goodness. ALL the emotions. I don’t think there was a single emotion I DIDN’T feel reading this book. As someone who works daily with a teenager with Autism, it was a rough read for me. It really makes me wonder what is going through the minds of the kids I work with. It will make me stop and think more at work, and hopefully try to see things from more angles.
I am so glad I read this book and will recommend it to anyone who every asks (or doesn’t ask...lol) for a suggestion!

While this book was extremely good and depicted such realness, I just can’t say that I like it. I think it was just too much for me.

I’m not sure why, but this book totally captured my imagination. I blew threw most of it in a weekend. I’d never heard of it or the author and don’t typically read books featuring disabilities.
I was not expecting the story to be told from the first person perspective and was surprised to see that the author is an adult male. I don’t really know anyone who struggles with autism or learning disabilities, so I can’t really speak to how authentic the perspective is, but it’s definitely interesting!
The story unfolds in a cool way as we learn it from Ginny’s perspective. She is not a completely unreliable narrator, but she’s definitely not completely reliable either. Watching the dynamics of all the relationships change through her eyes makes the story very compelling.
There is an emphasis on family in this story that tugged at my heartstrings the whole time. That underlying theme brings everything together in a really beautiful and honest way. The ending ties up a little too easily, but it’s also deserved and appreciated by the time we get there.
Ginny Moon brings her whole world into vivid reality. She’s a character I won’t soon forget!
I don't know if I really liked this book or not. Listened to audio version. Being a parent of a child with Autism, it made me question whether Ginny's issues were really related to Autism or Trauma. I loved her character but felt so sad for her. Childhood should not be like that for any child, especially for a child with Autism or Post Traumatic. It definitely brought on all the feelings, but wish there could have been some positive in the story for Ginny.

this book was a bit of challenge for me. i've never read a book from the perspective of an autistic person and i struggled to relate to the character. besides that it was an interesting, well written story but it just wasn't for me.
I am so torn about this book. On the one hand, I thought it was wonderful to be put in the place of a teenager with autism and to learn more about her world and history through her understanding of the world and the events in the book. However on the other hand, sometimes it could be incredibly frustrating to follow Ginny's reasoning throughout the story. However, I understand that it's supposed to be frustrating. That's how Ginny felt, so naturally, we as readers listening to her voice should also feel frustrated. I'm very back and forth with how I feel at the end of this. I think Ludwig does a great job of helping us understand the trauma Ginny went through and how she feels about the other people in her life. Won't lie, Maura annoyed the heck out of me and it was hard to be empathic with her at times. I also wondered about Gloria and Rick and wanted to hear more about what happened to them at the end. If anything, I think if this book did switch voices across characters, it could have added to the depth of the story. However, just from Ginny's perspective was great too in that it really helps you understand how those with autism think through problems (very literally). Perhaps I was frustrated at times because there were times when things were immediately clear to the reader and not to Ginny, and that tended to happen a lot. However, then I feel bad being mad about that because the whole point of the book was being with Ginny as she figured it out. So again, feeling very back and forth about this one.
