If you like Michael Crichton with a touch more of a sci-fi feel, this is a great book

Dark Matter hooked me immediately. I couldn’t wait to read more, more, more. There’s a short scientific explanation that may make some eyes go cross, but it was just enough for me to imagine it could be real at all — making the gravity of the situation all the more dark and emotional. Some moments fell short, but not to the extent that I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s worth placing yourself in the shoes of the character and wondering how you would overcome each scenario. I would love a sequel.

It's a beautifully written, thought-provoking story. 4.5 stars.

Like in Recursion, this is about the devastating effect of a mind-blowing scientific discovery that changes the world as we know it. I like the beauty with which the author blends an enticing scientific discovery with a taste of the disastrous consequence without turning it into a dystopic or an apocalyptic world.

SpoilerThroughout the book, I kept wondering: What if it is true? What if everything that could happen has already happened? It reminded me of a quote by Robert Frost,
"Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -- I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference."

Of course, it would still hold to this facet but not the infinitely faceted being in existence. It is happy and sad at the same time. In the end, I believe, as Jason says to Daniela,
"But it's all, in the end, just life. We see it macro, like one big story, but when you’re in it, it’s all just day-to-day, right? And isn’t that what you have to make your peace with?"

This book is good but hard to rate after reading "14" by Peter Clines which I'd highly recommend if you like this one.

4.25 - I wanted to rate this a 5 but the ending was a bit of a let down. Three dozen Jasons just peacefully step aside to allow the family they love to walk into another dimension without them - after they have been fighting tooth and nail for them for so long - nah.
