The multiverse exists because every choice we make creates a fork in the road, which leads into a parallel world.”

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch follows the life of Jason Dessen, a physics professor whose life is turned upside down when he's kidnapped and wakes up in a world that’s not his own. Struggling to return to his family, Jason navigates a series of parallel universes, each with its own version of his life.

Crouch's storytelling is truly impressive. He crafts a complex story with such precision that it keeps you hooked from start to finish. The writing is tight and engaging, making it hard to put the book down. The emotional journey of Jason—his desperation, love, and determination—really hits home, making his struggle something you can deeply relate to.

Crouch's depiction of the various alternate realities includes several post-apocalyptic worlds, each vividly described and contributing to the story’s high stakes. These worlds add layers of tension and drama, highlighting the dire consequences of Jason's journey.

The ending of Dark Matter is both satisfying and thought-provoking. It ties together the narrative threads while leaving readers contemplating the nature of reality and the choices we make. Without giving too much away, the conclusion underscores the central themes of love, identity, and the infinite possibilities that life holds.

if you need to get out of a reading slump, this book is for you! super fast paced and pretty quick to read! i don’t usually love science fiction, but this book is more of a thriller read. it also has a love story angle which i didn’t expect! me and my husband read this together, and we are still talking about the mind-blowing ending!!! really cool ideas about the multiverse. i took off one star mainly because there were a few things that didn’t make sense/were never explained. but such a crazy read! i’d recommend 100% if you like thrillers/science fiction and you don’t mind some language and quick romance scenes

Because I can't even put in words how this book made me feel and the things it made me contemplate. Things I have never sat and deeply thought about before.
