The storyline was slightly creepy at the end but I wouldn't consider it horror. For most of the book you don't know what's going on to even be scared. It was an easy read. Also just goeas to show how different cultures are because if my man were out about in the streets for 5 days at a time and I had no idea what was going on, there would be a problem. I did think the ending, in terms of what she did to create a "virus" was pretty unique.

Legitimately creepy. The story is different from the movie in interesting ways. A reporter investigates the mysterious death of 4 teenagers who watched a cursed video tape and has to solve what happened so that he and others around him don't die.

2.5 stars - Interesting premise ruined by transphobia and toxic masculinity. I probably would've given the book a significantly higher score if certain parts of the book were written far different. Apparently the film builds off of the brilliant parts of the book so I'll check that out. Sadako deserved so much better.
It's just not at all scary. I imagine it's a cultural thing. But then they also go and do the "the killer has messed up genitals cuz she's a FREAK" thing and that knocks it down some stars. Watch the movie; it's better
