I can't lie, the middle third of this story might fairly be called a slightly-too-long logic knot fetch quest. 'Detectives' running around Japan looking for clues, discussing those clues at length, and then discussing how each clue leads to the next clue, even when none of those discoveries are exceptionally engaging reveals in and of themselves. I was starting to doubt whether I wanted to finish the thing and whether or not I'd be down for the sequel (which I'd purchased before this book, in a twist of fate).

But, without giving away too much, I'll say that Ring certainly came back around (with force) and had me struggling to get some shuteye. I'm excited to dive into Spiral, next chance I get.
