I liked the premise, and it was kind of fun working through puzzles while reading. They felt pretty easy though, but maybe that’s because I’m in the comfort of my own home and not facing imminent death. The narration was easy to read, but I would’ve liked more show and less tell. Some transitions between scenes lost me briefly. Some scenes and characters were described in more detail than others, so my visualization of the people and scenes felt incomplete. Overall, enjoyed the read but might not read the rest of the series.

This book was incredibly well written! What started as a strange murder quickly turned into a political coverup and a race to stay alive against a murderous game. I couldn’t put it down and loved how badass Dani was throughout the terrible events of the book! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series!

An interesting thriller with a strong, female main character; this type of book appeals to me on several levels. And as a fan of third-person action-adventure video games which require fighting and puzzle solving to advance, I especially enjoyed the "game" portion of the story.

While the writing did not sweep me up in the narrative and make it difficult to put down, it did entertain and I may come back to the series in the future.
