I wouldn't consider myself a fan of Brian Micheal Bendis, but his marvel books always show up on my shelf somehow.
This is a cool story, asking some meta questions about Marvel's universe, such as "Why is earth always in the center of every story?". It's not quite the iteration of the Guardians we know and love, since I believe this was written before the release of the first GOTG movie, but I'd argue the Guardians aren't really the focus of this story. This book focuses on galactic politics, councils of different alien species, and the negotiations between them; a perspective that I find very compelling.
This volume only includes the first three issues of this run, the rest is stuffed with short bonus stories that were actually pretty good.

I would like to read the second volume, but I probably won't.
