I read this book just last week and already am having a hard time remembering it. Not such a great sign. It starts with an overdone amnesia case featuring a gorgeous 1960s housewife and a cold and distant (but rich) husband. She doesn't remember anything from her prior life but tries to fake it. Her friends are shallow. There is a lover (as noted in the title)
Spoiler which she discovers when she finds letters to herself hidden around her apartment
. The final 2/3 is set in modern times, and I found that part more interesting. Overall, this is a book about missed connections, miscommunication, and missed opportunities. Might make a good beach read, but otherwise I wouldn't strongly recommend it.

What a story! Had me hooked. Moyes has a way of sucking you in and really feeling the story. I was not prepared for the twist, but it perfectly fit the story, and ended beautifully!

Rooting for forbidden love is always an emotional rollercoaster, one that tends to end in disappointment

A great read for vacation. A somewhat improbable love story that pulls you in for the ride.

I read reviews before reading this book and I was sure I wouldn’t like it. However, I enjoyed it very much!! The love story almost became a character of its own, moving from the 1960s to today. I definitely preferred Jennifer’s voice, but I think Ellie’s voice was intentionally not as strong. Almost indicating that modern women can be just as conflicted about love, morales, and obligations as we tend to think women of the past were. Jennifer may not have been happy, but I think she had more clarity about who she was. I’d definitely recommend!!

A controversial topic at a time where women had little choices outside of marrying into wealth. A devastating romance of lost love and timing never being right. Loved the movie but the book as always was so much more.
