I thought this writing was really cute, and I'm excited to see how Ms. Siegel grows in her craft. (I also think she did a really great job narrating her own book, which is a thing most people shouldn't do because the result is usually not great.) For me, I kept forgetting how old the characters were because I felt like the dialogue and kind of the characterization felt a little bit more like 18ish than 25. And the point could probably be made that Charlotte as a character has a little bit of that failure-to-launch thing going on, which would make her read as younger. And 25 by no means is like mature and having your life together, but I found myself keep having to remember that they weren't like late for class or something. The other thing for me is that I felt like the book was a little too long. I don't think I ever got bored, but I did have that feeling where I was like whoa, are we still in this? Maybe like one too many characters? It had a little bit of that point-and-click game feeling where the characters were following the story path/crossing off one person after another and eventually getting to the end. But I thought it was cute, and I would try the next book in this series. Also, real good integration of characters with different backgrounds without making A Whole Thing Of It.
