I seriously adore the Men Of Hidden Creek series and am so happy we get a season 4. In this one we meet two best friends Max and Parker, who do my absolute favourite thing and get fake married. Now we all know how that always ends

DNF 64%. I call it quits. It was too cringy for me. This was a poorly executed friends to lovers and had low, barely existing UST levels. While I found the family dynamic adorable I hated the relationship between Max and Parker. First off Max very easily resigned himself to a no sex life style despite being in love with his straight friend for years. I got no vibes of sexual frustration from him at all. And after they fake married Parker rather magically became sexually attracted to Max. Like was the wedding ring laced with pheromones and blessed by the butt sex god on top of a mountain or something? It just came out of nowhere. I actually disliked it when the butt sex began happening because the build up was so poor. I'd rather read about the children and if Cindy wins kid's baking champion.

A sweet, slow-burn romance, between two best friends who are raising a family together. I loved how both characters came together in this relationship, by creating a deeper understanding of each other and their new family. Also, I adored that it was not just about the romance but the kids too, there was so much cute interaction with the kids it definitely balanced the entire story.

What a fantastic romance this is! Fast becoming one of my favourite tropes, fake husband is used to great effect by Susan Hawke in this addition to the Men of Hidden Creek series.
Parker lost his wife and was left alone with two young children but his lifelong best friend, Max, came to their rescue, offering a home, friendship and support. Three years later they've got co-parenting down but still as just friends. At least until Parker is fired from his job and with his daughter in need of expensive diabetic medication, a plan is hatched.
These two men together are so much fun. You can really tell that they've been friends for such a long time and though Max has been in love with Parker nearly as long, it doesn't affect their friendship. I love how easily they move into marriage as a way to get the best for Cindy after she experiences a small health crisis. Whilst their friendship is rock solid, the heat that grows between them becomes intense but also stays romantic. Max is fully involved with the kids lives and all together, they make such a cute family. Parker's children are so adorable, coming out with the best lines and speaking so innocently yet completely on the mark as only a young child can.
This is such a feel good romance for me. Yes, there is heartbreak for the family in the beginning and occasional moments of grief through the story but the author has written a tale packed full of love, friendship, family and fun. Definitely a recommended read for me. Another hit in this great series.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

there was way too many unnecessary dialogues happening between the kids and the adults. why is so much time spent on the fair prep, but we jump from weeks to months in other aspects? it really would've made more sense if the story started after parker moved in w max. as it is it starts almost at a point where a lot of the relationship has already happened.

I love the time span in the book and progression we got to see with the family. The first chapter really hits you hard and then the book gets sweet. I don’t want to spoil anything, but ugh anything with pets chokes me up. I love how this book ties into other books form the men of hidden creek and that we got some cameos! Ughhhh such a sweet romance though guys, you need it in your lives!

Parker and Max have been best friends since they were about 10. They are super close, so when Parker's wife dies in a fire, Max jumps right in the support and help Parker and his 2 adorable kids. The book started super sad, but it really set us up to see how strong the relationship was between Max and Parker as best friends. Over the next 3-4 years, they live together as friends. A medical situation requiring medications not covered by his insurance causes Max and Parker to decide to get married for the insurance. They remain friends while married for a while until Parker starts to all of a sudden see Max in a different light. Their transition from married besties to partners in every way was very slow, but once it happened, there was no hesitation or doubt on the part of either guy. I loved their relationship with each other and with their kids. It was clear from page one how much they both adored each other and the kids, and they were the perfect family. Despite the sadness at the beginning, it was a genuinely feel-good book. I really loved it. I also listened to this on audiobook, and it was so well done. I loved the character's voices.

I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC provided by LesCourt Author Services

This is a happy book. Except for the first chapter, that set the circumstances to the story develop, there is no angst here. Nothing that is not related to daily life with two kids, that is.

And let me tell you something, these kids? these kids will steal your heart in a second.

Max and Parker are great characters, funny, loving and caring. Their relationship evolves slowly... until it doesn't *laughs*

A story that will leave you with a happy smile on your face =D

Nick J. Russo keeps being great, he manages to transmit every emotion with his reading.

I find Susan Hawke can be very hit and miss for me but this is one of the hits. It's a very sweet story of best friends to lovers, forever pining, sexual discovery, marriage of convenience, fake spouse.
It's low angst and well narrated.
