After waiting forever to read [b:Sharp Objects|18045891|Sharp Objects|Gillian Flynn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1475695315l/18045891._SY75_.jpg|3801] by [a:Gillian Flynn|2383|Gillian Flynn|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1232123231p2/2383.jpg], I finally decided it was high time I did since it's now out on HBO and has been for a while. I was one of those people that loved [b:Gone Girl|19288043|Gone Girl|Gillian Flynn|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1554086139l/19288043._SY75_.jpg|13306276], but I have been kind of struggling with Flynn's other novels I have read for some reason. Thankfully though, I ended up really liking this one and it was totally and completely wild and crazy town AF. I can't even imagine how this story is going to come across on TV, and now that I'm done I will have to watch it very soon. I was also shocked to find out this is actually Flynn's debut novel, and I have 0 idea as to why I always thought that it was Gone Girl.

I was also a big fan of the audiobook which is narrated by Ann Marie Lee, and it goes pretty quickly considering it's just over 9.5 hours long. This book is DARK y'all and there is a plethora of heavy and disturbing themes all captured with seemingly perfect ease by Flynn. The characters have so much dimension that even those you should completely hate become too real to ignore, and I loved the way the twists shocked me. Since it's been a minute, I might actually read this one again before watching the limited series, but if you are a fan of dark and disturbing Sharp Objects is the place to be.

i think i would have enjoyed this more if i hadn't already had the plot twist spoiled

Oof… this was rough. I kinda didnt see this as “horror” at first but it really is it’s own dark kind of horror and some of the worst kind when kids are involved. This book made me cringe throughout the entire thing. I was physically uncomfortable reading it at times… I think for my future scary reads I will probably stick to less realistic things. Very well written though, I’m not sure I would watch the show at this point, but I do like the cast. Maybe one day.

I wish the ending and epilogue were more drawn out instead of shortly explaining everything in the span of 4 pages. Very dark though!

,,Everyone has their own version of a memory."

,,Sometimes if you let people do things to you, you're really doing it to them."

Kažkada seniai mačiau pagal šitą knygą sukurtą serialą, kuris labai man patiko.

the plot itself was well done and the ending wasn’t something i was able to easily predict, but still felt realistic and grounded in the story (aka much better than gone girl). however, this portrayal of mental illness in the narrator was out of touch and generally absurd.
