Historical fiction. Initially slow but the last third picked up and tied everything together. Interesting commentary on marriage, relationships, and the lies we tell others and ourselves.

Excellent read and masterfully crafted! I love it when an author plays around with perspective. Big fan of one POV being in first person whilr the other is in third person.

I also can appreciate all the real events/people that Tan Twan Eng drew from for this novel

Both Lesley and Willie were flawed but very real characters.

I'm really enjoying historical/literary fiction lately and this was certainly no different.
