I didn't know what to expect from this title, other than it being set in Paris (haven't read any Hemingway previously). I feel like I got a sense that Hemingway had interesting company in his life, and I'm glad we got to spend time with notable figures such as Gertrude Stein and F. Scott Fitzgerald. Some lines made me laugh, like "Creation's probably overrated. Afterall, God made the world in only six days and rested on the seventh". Great little read if you wanted to either hear the author's thoughts/perspectives directly, or if you were like me and in search of stories set in Paris before traveling there.

β€œIn Europe then we thought of wine as something as healthy and normal as food and also as a great giver of happiness and well being and delight. Drinking wine was not a snobbism nor a sign of sophistication nor a cult; it was as natural as eating and to me as necessary, and I would not have thought of eating a meal without drinking either wine or cider or beer. I loved all wines except sweet or sweetish wines and wines that were too heavy, and it had never occurred to me that sharing a few bottles of fairly light, dry, white Macon could cause chemical changes in Scott that would turn him into a fool.”
