I love his style of writing and there were many eloquently quotable lines; the descriptions of writing in a Parisian cafe were so heartwarming, so even though I doubted I would enjoy a Hemingway memoir, I really loved this. But my favourite part was where Hemingway thirsts for Scott Fitzgerald over two pages then in the next chapter outs the fact he had a small dick, couldn’t hold his drink, and was illiterate. 10/10 for that energy.

interesting! a really quick read for me in an afternoon at a cafe, which is probably the right way to read this. i liked hearing the paris stories. nothing that interesting about this to me, though. hemingway has such a clear voice which i love! but i think i wanted to come away with thoughts, ideas, even a reading list... and kind of came away with nothing but a sort of quiet peace at seeing his adventures. i did love the convos between hemingway & hadley - the kinds of convos i want to have - to love living like that - !

La escritura que brilla en sus cuentos y le dan esa fuerza animal, no está acá.. Tiene un tono periodístico que lo encontré plano. Me gustaron algunas anécdotas, las vinculadas a sus dificultades haciéndose camino como escritor, y el retrato sarcástico de Maddox Ford o la pelea con Gertrude Stein, los cuentos de Fizgerald. Estos recuerdos los escribió tenía 60 y se publicaron después de su muerte, creo que por su cuarta esposa. Capaz el problema es un tema de edición aunque se reconoce abiertamente el estilo Hemingway. Está bien pero no es de lo mejor.
