A Moveable Feast

Ernest Hemingway

Some of the writing was good but mostly it's just Hemingway criticizing other authors and famous people of the time.
fast-paced

This is the first Hemingway I have ever read.

I definitely plan to read more.

Most probably know this, but Hemingway is able to convey an incredible amount with simple, sparse prose. I read the book in preparation for a trip to Europe this summer, and I look forward to visiting places Hemingway mentioned.

The additional sketches at the end are worth reading, with a particularly amusing one ("Scott and His Parisian Chauffeur") being about F. Scott Fitzgerald bringing a Parisian cab driver to the United States as his personal chauffeur.

"A Matter of Measurements" also stood out as an amusing section.

The biggest accomplishment of this tiny book is its breadth. This is a book about food, about Paris, above love, about writing and countless other topics. I enjoyed it a lot and look forward to reading it again one day.

It was fine
hopeful lighthearted relaxing slow-paced

The perfect pre-Paris book.

I don't know why people bother with the novels.

"You can read some of it again. Most of it. But then it will start to make you angry, no matter how great it is." p. 138

I really wanna go skiing.

So boring.
