Great defense against atheism and agnosticism by [a:C.S. Lewis|1069006|C.S. Lewis|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1367519078p2/1069006.jpg]C.S. Lewis. His way of going around a point a few different ways can help someone relate to the topic, but can drone on when you already grasp his logic. I would recommend taking the time to read through this no matter your religious affiliation.

Time and time again I am baffled at C.S. Lewis's ability to write so understandably. Books like these, or rather books that are nonfiction that dive into complex topics, have always been intimidating for me. However, I felt much more confident going into this one as C.S. Lewis is definitely the author I have read the most works of. This is his first non-fiction/non-story driven book of his I read and it is incredible how he brings his distinctive voice through any type of book that he writes.
I often find myself reading non-fiction as a chore, I may enjoy learning about the content within the book but sometimes it can be dull especially as someone so used to reading fiction for entertainment. However I found myself excited to be able to pick this back up, engaged with every word and each chapter. C.S. Lewis is able to make the reader feel on parr with his knowledge, he never claims to know more than us and expresses how he himself is still learning about Christianity. However, he still used his knowledge to provide a clear understanding of the Christian Faith and basic components of what it means to be a Christian.
This book was so helpful in understanding fairly basic topics in Christianity I hadn't really thought to deep about. The chapter on Forgiveness was one of my favorites as Lewis explains it in a light I hadn't heard or considered. It seems so simple now but the way he reshaped ideas in my mind is truly astonishing. His writing is so digestible, never making the reader feel stupid or bored. He utilizes illustrations whenever the opportunity presents itself and they are almost always incredibly helpful.
This book is a great introduction into the surface of Christianity and the basic necessities that make a Christian. I HIGHLY recommend to everyone, Christian or not.

Good book for non-Christians to read, great book for Christians to read. Most of the arguments don’t apply as well today as they did when the book first came out, especially when you consider the targeted demographics (broadcasts during WWII). It definitely put words to thoughts I’ve had and couldn’t explain. However, it is important to read this book within the context of the time period it was written, especially concerning the general beliefs held by the public back then.
