The good bit were excellent, the stories, memoir about his family. The bit about the environment felt like one long run on sentence of doom. I get it, the situation is dire, but omfg stop with regurgitating of reports.

Beautiful. I love the way Magnason weaves his story. It is about humans and planet and history and future and family and love and loss all at once. Brilliant. Stunning.

And time is like an image painted half by water — and half of it by me. - Steinn Steinarr

I believe this will likely be the best book I read all year. It is thought-provoking and incredibly moving. This book changed how I think about time and the effect I have on it.

I did not want this book to end, and I have reread several parts of it. It is a book that needs to live in my library... it begs for the reader to highlight passages, to dog-ear pages, to jot in personal notes... it is a book that I need to read again... and soon!

I highly recommend!

A compelling look at climate change through the lens of the author's own family history and the history of Iceland. Beautifully conceived, but the interviews with the Dalai Lama seem a bit awkwardly inserted.
