The Revenge of Seven is a incredible installment to the I am number four series. In fact, it’s the best one (so far). Despite the heinous betrayal in the last book, this one really makes you question your alliances. The Loric fight alongside Malcom, Adam, and Sam to take down the mogs before they land their ships on earth. In that time frame they learn more mysteries about their home planet Lorien and how it could survive if the Loric are successful. This book is pretty emotional, it’s action packed, and it’s got a lot of twists and turns.

There are still issues of fatphobia in this book. As well as some bullying. Readers discretion is advised.

I’m actually super into this series now. After loving the last book I was eager to get into this one and it did not disappoint. Still exciting still fast paced but now entirely unpredictable. The world is expanding and gaining so much depth. Adam is my favorite character, now that I have a favorite character I feel like I care so much more about what happens. Characters and plot points that we briefly glossed over in previous books are making a come back and becoming significant. I’m so much more interested than I was at the start and I’m loving every moment of it.

Formatting and lack of down time are still an issue for me, but I’ve already talked about that. I really hope this series doesn’t end with the Garde transforming earth into the new Lorien. I’m not optimistic with the turn this took right at the end. Are we just reading about colonization but from opposite point of view than we first thought? I hope not but I guess I’m going to have to read on to find out.

Overall I had a blast reading this book. I finally feel like I care about the character and the slog of the middle few has definitely paid off. 4 stars.
