DNF

The characters are adult acting like teenagers. The whole plot is weak. Many sentences are repeated.

You know I'm not gonna lie, I knew this book was smutty and that's what I was looking for. And I usually skip trigger warnings because (1) it's rare that I'm triggered by something in a book and (2) I feel like they spoil parts of the book for me and I like to go in blind. I meannnnnn, maybe that's my fault. But as I was reading this book, I found myself for like the first 60% or so reading with a straight face. However, after reading this book I can confidently say that things like humiliation and sadism and boot worship and what have you are definitely not for me.

I found Manson's character psychotic and (not in a hot way; just plain weird like the main character kept saying). I'd like to note that you're going to have suspended your disbelief for this plot considering it's a bit unrealistic for a cocky and conceited former IT girl like Jessica to just relinquish to some guy she hooked up with once in high school.

Now going back to the content in this book, again, maybe it's on me for not reading the trigger warnings, but nothing "triggered" me in this book. I was just surprised at how one could find certain things in this book pleasurable. I had no idea there were things such as boot play till I read this book.🤣 But jokes aside there were some things in this book that I was like "🤨"
Like when he (Manson) was taking the wax from the formerly lit candle and placing it on her vagina and rubbing it in. Like, dude! I've heard of dripping hot wax before, but that was something. And the knife play (surprisingly didn't hate it as much as i thought i would), but again Manson is such a psycho that it really made the scene less sexy knowing that he was being such a creep before saying that he carries the knife with him everywhere and that he literally threatened a student with it not too long ago. Oh and the boot scene where she kisses his boots. I'm sorry, but eeewwww girl you don't know where those boots have been. In addition to the boots, sis had no underwear for most of the duration of the book and yet she was grinding on his dirty boots. Ma'am! I know good and well you're gonna need to see your gyno after this cuz there's no way she didn't get a yeast infection from that.

I'd also like to add that there's a kink in here that's not presented in the content warnings and that's the kink for "multiple partners" and slight "voyeurism".
Her having to pleasurable all of them especially the one with the Prince Albert was unnerving. I just couldn't suspend my disbelief to believe that she was willing to service his friends while he watched. I know that girl's throat hurt. Also, the clown thing. My gosh! Why'd the author have to make it her phobia? I take phobias very seriously so the fact that she was probably scared out of her mind of these clowns and he still pushed her to it just made me dislike Manson even more. He just gave me the ick the whole novella. I just couldn't with him. He wasn't sexy at all. He was creepy.

You know, like I said previously I read this book cuz I was in the mood for something quick and spicy. And I saw this in a spicy recommendations video about the losers duet and that you could start this one to see if the duet is for you. Well, after reading this I will conclude that I WILL NOT  be reading the duet. I couldn't care less about these people. Also, I was told how good Harley Laroux's writing is, uhmmm........was the good writing in the room with us?! Like her writing wasn't horrendous but it wasn't anything special either. Overall, it was a 3-star. I didn't like this book by any means but I didn't hate it either.

Spice Rating:🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5 (i honestly didn't know what to rate this in terms of spice because this book is more kinky than smutty if that makes sense; there was just a lot of kinks and the sex didn't come till the end and even that I found a bit underwhelming)

Update (literally a few minutes later), I have since lowered it to a 2.75/5.

This was hot and nice and short and sweet. I'm excited to see where the full story goes.
