I loved "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close" more than I liked "Everything is Illuminated." This funny, quirky, yet sad book is told from the perspecitves of 3 characters:a young boy trying to come to terms with the loss of his father, the boy's grandmother and her estranged husband. Highly recommended!

One of my favorite books ever. I was reluctant to read a story with a synopsis that says only that the story is about a nine year old on a mission to find a lock to his father who passed away on 9-11's key. But I was amazed. This writing style was Foer's best yet. The book includes several reoccurring images, diaries, native, and letters that keep you on the edge of your seat the entire book. Not only that but I found myself loving this nine year old boy like he was a friend of mine.

Good and sad. I just wanted a little more. I saw so many 5 star ratings so I think I went in with inflated expectations.

I can read it again and again and, even without surprise, be brought to tears. I am convinced that, in his best moments, no one writes better than Safran Foer.

Absolutely heartbreaking ): but i loved the set up of the book, the pictures, and the shifts of the view points.

Intricately woven storyline that’ll make u cry a bunch. Some of the experimental (quote unquote) letters left me wanting more, but in a way where the author refused to lay things out for us and forced us to think harder about the books relationships.

I have questions still and I feel like this would be suuuuuch a good book for English class or a book club.

Really intimate storytelling I loved and feel like almost anyone would enjoy
