The format supported a genuine tone. Lots of insights, laugh out loud and cry silently moments. I pulled some favorite quotes - I especially like the note in the acknowledgements - when the author struggled with writing the book during COVID and her friend proclaimed “...make the letters bigger!”

Just the loveliest of books. Quick read and enjoyed every word.

I am admittedly a bad audiobook listener, as I tend to find myself lost in my thoughts. So while I’m not sure I got the full picture of her life, what I did hear was excellent storytelling. I never know with celebrity memoirs how much help they received, but my instinct is that she is a talented writer. I loved the imagery she used, and the level of detail she chose to include. She didn’t just ramble, she crafted.

I find many celebrity memoirs read like they either want you to think they’re hot shit, or they’re trying to prove they don’t think that they are. Minnie simply told the stories of her life, without ego or pretence. I enjoyed the stories not just because I like her, but because they were objectively good stories. I wouldn’t have minded hearing more about her acting career, but it was so refreshing that it didn’t read like her resume.

Now I feel the strongest urge to watch Good Will Hunting!

Not for me.  I feel like what I read was a very detailed trip via Miami (age 11) and rambling about her hair.  A bit disappointed.
