A book that came to me when needed. One that talks of taking a break and becomes it. Beautifully written characters and sceneries and ideas. In a world without capitalism, it is nice to see how the remnants of it are still present in human behavior. And how it conceals human ideals and attributes that ground us even more to this world and its constituents. Highly recommend

Sofort eines meiner Lieblingsbücher.
Ich habe selten etwas gelesen, das mich so vollständig und mit allen Sinnen reingezogen hat.

"Find the strength to do both."

I'm not sure why these six words hit me so hard, or why the overall story spoke to me as much as it did, but I was blown away by this short, thought-provoking tale of a tea monk making contact with a wild-built robot. And it certainly has nothing to do with my feelings on Becky Chambers' previous work, [b:The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet|22733729|The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (Wayfarers, #1)|Becky Chambers|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1405532474l/22733729._SY75_.jpg|42270825], which while well regarded, I couldn't finish. But this novella manages to discuss some heavy concepts in such a breezy, comforting manner that it moved me to my core.

It's funny that I read it now, the night before my daughter graduates middle school, because I can't think of a better present to get for her than this book (other than the envelope of money she's also getting, which I'm sure she'll be more excited about). But I think she will appreciate the big ideas — on our existence, purpose, happiness, and interaction with and impact on the world around us — that are introduced and explored by these two unique characters.

DID NOT FINISH: 37%

Not for me. Very little substance, with surface level philosophy and a dull main character
