The whole thing felt a bit trite and completely unrealistic. I was 39% of the way through the book and didn’t care about the characters at all.

While this was very beautifully written, the pacing was too slow for me. I feel like a lot in the middle could have been cut out; Vincent spent much too much time trying to have the best of both worlds, which wasn’t fair to either Cillian or Loup. I understand Vincent felt betrayed, but I don’t think she needed to drag both men along an entire year until she figured out what she wanted and she can’t use the betrayal to justify her affair. I enjoyed reading about their travels and the descriptions were 🤌🏼 but almost feel like the middle could have been entirely Vincent’s journal entries and that would have been enough. I’m not a big fan of age-gap romances, so I had a hard time buying Loup/Vincent, though I did really like Loup and his quirkiness. Also… I hate open endings and need to know what happened and how everyone responded😅

Man, this book is messy… like MESSY.

On one hand I like that this is a middle aged woman owning her messiness and sexuality. The writing and narration is beautiful and the book will really make you want to book a trip!

However, Vincent is just so emotionally immature. I think the author wants you to think that she is a worldly and emotionally developed woman, but she acts like a child and is quite whiny. She was also incredibly pretentious, closed minded, and judge mental even though she broadcasted the idea that she is warm and open minded person.  I also think that loup was really annoying and not at all sexy. The relationship betwee

Vincent was Al’s weirdly obsessed with her period. She brought it up like once a chapter it was a little bit much.

After learning the truth of her husband’s past, Vincent is hurt and escapes to Paris for an unforgettable, life changing experience. She meets someone unexpected causing her to feel confused about where her life is headed next.

This story made me want to travel! The author did an amazing job describing Paris and transporting me to a place I’ve always wanted to visit. This was definitely a slow burn and some of the interjections got to be a little much. I didn’t care for the ending and wish we were left with a little more. Overall it was an enjoyable summer read.
