Such a disappointing read that I canceled the pre-order for the next book in the Vipers series.  I genuinely disliked the writing style of this book and the lack of depth with the characters was astonishing.  

I am not a stranger to dark romance and I don’t mind cnc or dubious consent if written well but this was not; this was straight up rape.  The main character is give a safe word but she is in a position where if she says no she won’t be able to join the secret society and get the revenge she needs to.  This cluster fuck aside, the way the abuse is written between the main characters is wild that anyone would read this and think that it was romantic (even for a fictional world/relationship).  Clearly this author struggles to write these “dark romance” books well.  Rather than showcasing the mental impact this toxic relationship is she instead tries to manipulate her readers into thinking it is consensual or just a typical dark romance with dubious consent and primal play.
