I'm all for dark romance and most dark themes do not bother me but I have to draw the line at straight up rape. No one could ever convince me that their first scene together was anything close to 'consensual non-con' or even 'dub-con' and I think the author should be honest about that in their note at the front of the book. It was straight up non-con all the way I would have kept reading this since I was decently interested in the story but I have to draw the line at that. Not my cup of tea.

Despite the rhythm of the book, it takes time to get into the story. The romance is pretty slow and appears from nowhere and is not really well integrated into the storyline. But the end of the book is entertaining, and the rest of the plot is well written. I’m waiting for the rest of the series. Other than that, it looks like your typical R. Kent romance; it will start to be boring very soon.

Beautiful Venom by Rina Kent was a steamy, intense read that I picked up for a book club, and overall, I did enjoy it. The chemistry between the characters was definitely there, and the emotional tension kept me turning the pages. That said, I often felt like the plot was being overshadowed by the abundance of sex scenes. While those scenes fit the tone of the book, they sometimes came at the expense of deeper character development or plot progression.
There were also a few moments where I felt like important information was missing, questions that I wanted answers to but didn’t get. I suspect some of these gaps might be filled in later books in the series, but it left me wanting a bit more substance in this installment.
Still, for fans of dark romance and morally gray characters, this one delivers on the angst and spice. I’d say it’s a solid 3.5 stars for me.

I mean it's a Rina Kent book so it has a strong start for being a dark romancebut a weirdly soft emotional finish. Maybe it's the fact these are college kids but I wasn't as into it.
