Vipers #1, Kane and Dahlia. Messed up dark romance with secret societies, primal sex, controlling fathers. Read the trigger warning.

I love Dahlia. She is a fierce girl who doesn’t let anyone get away with anything. Kane is completely honest about his wants and needs but his obsession with dahlia changes all that.

Kane and Dahlia each have a found family that i prominent. I love that aspect.

This book is amazingly dark with a good plot to spice ratio.

when i read there would be a physical test, i thought she'd be put to fight/run or something... i never expected him to r4pe her and then for her to act like NOTHING HAPPENED three days later. i get it's for violet, but good grief, you were humiliated, dragged, BEATEN

what i hate the most is that the authors try to spin it as 'cnc' when the reality is that there's NOTHING consensual about it (referring to chapters 6 and 7), and for me, it totally ruined the character

well, kane could have been okay if THAT hadn’t happened bc after those chapters he treated her pretty decent, and i think he even fell in love with her too quickly

i felt like there was no consistency with his personality, and i get that there was character development but it honestly felt like i was reading about a completely different person. but anyway, that doesn’t change the fact that he was a very recyclable character, which made him feel flat and uninteresting

dahlia, this young lady… i don’t even know how to describe her. she was just meh not impressed, and a bit of self love wouldn’t hurt sweetheart. but i wont take away from her credit when she finally set a boundary (FINALLY) and how she protected violet

i just couldn’t connect with dahlia and kane relationship, they definitely didn't capture me at all, and i didn't feel anything for them as a couple beyond their kinda stale sexual tension.

violet and jude, i think they're the reason i gave this book one star

preston and marcus, though... to be honest, they really intrigued me, both of them are totally crazy

i like the plot and all that stuff with the families, the rings, the masks, and the suspense… the plot twist made it interesting towards the end. i’m hoping the next book will be way BETTER than this one. but in short, it was all very cliché and unoriginal (no one is surprised)
