I was reading this aloud to my 6yo after reading a couple of the other Narnia books. He was excited at first to see the kids go back to Narnia, but he really lost interest after Trumpkin shows up and started telling the story of Caspian, and after a couple chapters of that he said he didn't want to read it anymore, so this was a DNF for him. I finished it myself just to remember how it ended, and I'm glad I didn't push him to continue. So little actually happens in this story. The kids show up in Narnia and meet Trumpkin, he gives them Caspian's backstory, they trek through the woods to meet up with Caspian's army and Aslan, fight a battle and then have a party. The whole book is a lot more vibes than plot, like Lewis was mostly interested in writing these descriptions of his magical world and the plot is just a vehicle to show them off. The characters continue to be very flat. I know these are classics, but I don't think they really hold up very well against some of the children's literature being written today.

Least favorite of the series so far. It took a long time to move the story, too much description of the animals. Also, the message wasn't as clear in this tale.

Enjoyed this one too! So interesting the timelines between narina and real life lol only felt the ending was little rushed when most of book was finding caspian.
