Inspiring story + historical facts about WW2. A book that any age/gender would like in my opinion! Note: There are a few gory details in this book.

His torture was so extreme that it is even hard to read about, but it is true and hopefully will help us not to repeat our mistakes. The book Don’t give up, don’t give in is the perfect sequel to this book

Epic. In every sense of the word. The way it’s laid out grated on me slightly at points but that could hardly detract from the most incredible of stories.

So far - the best book I have read in 2011. I couldn't put it down. An amazing story written in such a way that you couldn't bear to have to wait to see what happened next. The right director/producer could make this into an outstanding movie. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Wow, how have I never read this book until now? What an awesome story. Heck ya to the author for her long form journalistic skills on this one. I was wrapped and probably read this in a week. Would recommend to anyone, especially history people. If you haven’t read this - read it.
challenging dark emotional inspiring medium-paced

Maybe one of the most heart breaking novels I've ever read. Louis Zamperini was quite a chap: genius, heat headed, brave, precocious and above all, he was a survivor. The movie really did him some justice - even though there was some changes for the sake of the script - his story and wisdom must survive through generations.

Cinematic in it's description and gut wrenching in it's detail of the horror that human beings inflict on each other, it is well worth the emotional investment.

It was long and bad things kept happening. But our hero was optimistic and at the end of it all Billy Graham helped him find Jesus.

Loved this book. Awe inspiring.
