This is a perfect “going for a run” audiobook. It’s also free on audible, so that makes it even better.
This is the 2nd book by Chu that I’ve listened to. I loved the little Easter-egg crossovers. Like The Comeback, this one also focuses on a Chinese woman living in Toronto.
Dee is a diversity consultant, and predictably, she runs into some people who definitely don’t think they need some work in this area. She also falls in love, navigates some tricky family dynamics, and learns some good life lessons for herself.

I enjoyed Chu's other book, "The Stand-in" more than this one, probably because I just really love fake dating. The friends-to-lovers in this book is sweet and the DEI-fashion industry plot is important but didn't quite grab me. I also found the non-romantic HEA elements a little beyond plausible, especially for a book whose theme is reducing toxic positivity. Enjoyable overall, just not my favorite.
