It was honestly kind of dry and boring to me...

The Overstory is a beautiful book! It really changed my outlook on nature! It is a long book and it can be slow paced in places but it is 100% worth it. I recommend it to everyone.

A beautiful book that teaches you about what it means to be human, without putting humans at the center of the narrative. Left me feeling that what we refer to as 'the world' is only half the story. Not exactly a hopeful story, but comforting in the sense that there are forces much more powerful and more in control than human destruction.

This book is truly beautiful. It took me a long time to read because, due to the pandemic and being a full-time grad student again, I have very little brain space left for things I want to read and enjoy.  The story, about trees, is broken up into sections named after tree parts (ie, Root, Trunk, Branch, Seed), and does the most incredible job of bringing disparate people together. Everyone is so different, everyone comes from a vastly different background, but they find themselves united for a brief moment in time for a specific cause. It can be painful to read, at times, but is a truly wonderful exploration of what trees and the forests can do for us as humanity and what we can do in return, and how and why people turn out the way they do.  I loved this book, completely, and I highly recommend it.

The novel is slow and has baggage in some places, but is an incredibly important and astoundingly well written novel. It follows multiple narrators through their connection with the natural world. I think people are right to suggest this novel will harken in a new era of environmentally focused fiction
