A fantastic follow-up book! Carrie and her friends continue to develop, both as people and as superheroes. And I loved the introduction of magic to the world, and seeing how it interacted with the technology already in place. Can't wait for the rest of the series!

Somewhat better than...

The first one, it could be an effect of being familiar with the writing style, worldbuilding or plot structure of the author. But it feels a bit better.
Still, it is somewhat light weight and feels constructed in parts (and I really don't understand this habit of dragging magic into super hero) and clearly is YA.
The slice of life and super hero parts goes better together and in general the flow is better.
The only thing I still have a problem with is the racial stereotyping, but perhaps it is just how it is when readin mainstream US books.
