An enjoyable book, and different from the usual stuff. I won't put the sequels on top of my list, but I'll probably read them at some point.

First a caveat. I normally read military SF and Space Opera and high fantasy so this was very different for me. It is pretty silly. I really did not like the character of the male lead. Every male was pretty damn sexist and objectified women (except for the nice gay guys). The main woman character was pretty good. She was super intelligent, brave and very resourceful but she was a real horndog.

The writing style was easy to read and well done. I loved the main character's playlist. I am somewhat humor impaired so take this review with that in mind. The writer may have been being humorous and I missed it.

I'm not sure how this book ended up in my pile. It was like a really cheezy action movie.

Our Heroine finds herself in the middle of gorgeous aliens, hideous monsters, terrorists, and... her parents.

This book is a helluva lot of fun. The dialogue sparkles and reminds me of an old-fashioned screwball comedy. The plot has constant twists and surprises. The characters are engaging and the book as a whole is fast-paced.

Lots of fun. I love the snarky humor, strong females. Plus, who wouldn't enjoy the fantasy of hunky (or beautiful), non-judgemental aliens only interested in intellligent humans.

Kat digs out her Mont Blanc pen and takes down a winged monster that manifests on her way to her car after jury duty.

Squee! What a fun book! I was nearly did not pick up this book due to the main character's name (Kitty Katt?) but I'm oh so glad I did. She sees a guy go from blowing his top over a little fender bender to actually, well, blowing his top - or, at least, blowing his back, by turning into a mutant and murdering the other party, then starting in an many others. What does she do? Run, hide, scream like a baby? Call 911? Trip in her high heels and cower until a he-man saves her?

Oh, hell, no!

She also doesn't take the super sexy, Armani-clad guys in the know who show up later at face value, a trait I liked almost as much.

I may not share Kitty's taste in music, but I do like her. A lot. I like her family too! In fact, I want her family. I want to be adopted into her family. I could happily live without the whole nasty aliens invading our world thing, but her parents are cool. It's refreshing to have a heroine from a good family with cool, living parents for a change.

I picked up book two, [bc:Alien Tango|7948544|Alien Tango (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #2)|Gini Koch|http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31Oc9ib%2BrrL._SL75_.jpg|11556310], right away. After reading it, [a:Gini Koch|3219496|Gini Koch|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1275081028p2/3219496.jpg] is officially my favorite new author.

There is one little problem. I want to read [bc:Alien in the Family|8714075|Alien in the Family (Katherine "Kitty" Katt, #3)|Gini Koch|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1285844542s/8714075.jpg|13586954] right NOW. Right. This. Minute. Just how firm is that April release date, anyway?

3.5 stars. I was really, really enjoying this book at the beginning. But so many explanations were tumbled forward in such a short time period that it became, for me, an infodump more than an enjoyable interlude. Kitty wavers between being observant and gifted with good instincts to being completely clueless (to her mother's annoyance). And there are conversations where she states that she doesn't know about something and someone almost immediately asks her about what she's just said she doesn't know about (though not a frequent occurrence, this kind of scene is one of my pet peeves). Overall not a favorable experience for me, though I can understand the more enthusiastic reception from other readers. And the "baby" thing bothered me too, but that's just another pet peeve.
